Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a condition of the skin which means that the face, neck and even chest can flush, to the extent that it can look as red as sunburn, or in many cases, blushing.

It is actually caused by enlarged blood vessels, and can be set-off by many things that could include, for example, chemicals, alcohol or even just temperature fluctuation.

Rosacea sufferers can, understandably, suffer from self-esteem issues and in some cases, may suffer from depression that results in them not want to go out in public in case they experience an outbreak.

At Laser Skin Clinics Wolverhampton, we are experts in treating Rosacea with our high-tech laser treatment that is fast and permanent and also, non-invasive.

Rosacea treatment initial consultation

During your initial consultation, your friendly skin expert will give you all the answers for questions that you may have about the treatment.

You will be recommended for a treatment programme that is tailor-made to combat your problem and if you decide to go ahead, you will be given a skin patch test either during your consultation period or by appointment.

Your treatment session will then be booked in at your convenience.

Rosacea treatment process

When you arrive for your treatment, a cooling gel will be applied to the treatment area and you will be given protective goggles and made very comfortable.

The sapphire crystal light pulses will be applied to the area and although the feeling may be slightly uncomfortable, most people tell us that it is bearable.

Treatments do not take long, depending on the size of area, but each time you come you will see an improvement – usually after just two sessions you will notice a difference.

The sessions usually take place every four weeks.

Laser Skin Clinics Wolverhampton use the FDA Approved advanced Intense Pulsed Light system, which is a cutting-edge technology that makes use of a sapphire crystal.

This crystal’s wavelength applies a broad-spectrum of light to the surface of the skin – through the epidermis and dermis – and then, when it hits the target area, it destroys the vascular lesions by absorption of the light by the haemoglobin.

This is because when the temperature reaches around 60-70C, the blood coagulates, the inner cells of the blood vessels denature and the vein vessels dissolve. The heat from the process helps boost the production of collagen and thus helps the healing process and stimulates repair of the skin.

After the treatment, don’t be alarmed if the treatment area is red, pink or swollen – this is a temporary effect of the treatment and will usually last no longer than 24-48 hours.
